It’s about that time! The end of summer is really the start of new opportunities to make this year even better than last! Whether it is the first day of third grade or your first day of high school, the idea of going back to school might make you feel butterflies. We have put together a few tips to help you feel more confident and start your school year on the right foot.

Stand Up Straight
Having good posture is one of the easiest ways to add a bit of confidence into your step. Keep your head held high and stand or sit up tall with your shoulders pulled back. Not only will you look more confident, but you’ll start to feel it too.

Make A List Of Goals
Coming up on the first day of school, you’ll find that it’s the perfect time to sit down and make a list of things you want to accomplish. Maybe you have a goal for the grades you want get, or maybe you’re thinking of trying out for a new sport, or maybe it’s even just that you want to meet a few new people. Take some time before school to make your list of goals and then you’ll find it easier to think about how you can make them a reality.

Have A Few Questions Ready
Especially if you are starting at a brand new school, you may be nervous about how to meet people and make new friends. Having a couple of questions and ice breakers in mind can help you feel more confident when introducing yourself. Offer others genuine compliments and ask the people you are talking to questions. Having a few conversation topics like schedule questions or questions about hobbies/interests can help when you are getting ready to put yourself out there.

Remember That It Is The First Day For Everyone
Many people have the same apprehensions and excitement about going back to school. You’re not alone in whatever you are feeling. Remembering this and considering how others may feel can help give you a little confidence boost.

Don’t Overthink It!
Last but not least, don’t overthink going back to school! It’s just another day, and if nothing else, it’s an opportunity to be whatever you want it to be. Pick your favorite outfit, or jazz up your closet with a few new pieces but don’t feel like you have to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe for your first day. Keep things in perspective and love who you are and that will shine through in everything that you do.
