Saburi Sai1Saburi Sai graduated from Barbizon of San Francisco in March 2016 and already she signed with Models Inc Talent Agency and booked her first commercial. Her modeling career is  taking off with modeling at Macy’s in Union Square and walking the runway in the Macy’s fashion show at the Ultimate Women’s Expo in San Mateo. According to Saburi, “These additions to my resume really helped as I applied to agencies.” Get to know Saburi, and take notes – this girl is going places.

First off, can you tell us about your Barbizon experience?

I was fairly shy, closed off, and never really considered modeling or acting before my training at Barbizon. My classes not only helped build my confidence, but they also helped me realize one of my passions. I was provided with industry information, taught essential interview skills, and given helpful audition tips and tricks that I have been using since I graduated.

“Barbizon was a life changing experience as it brought out a side of me I didn’t know existed.”

Saburi Sai4I found myself memorizing commercial scripts easily and enjoyed adding my own flair to every script I was given. I also found myself becoming more comfortable socializing with anyone I met even if I didn’t think we might have much in common, something I never would have done before.

How did you end up signing with Models Inc. Talent Agency?

I applied to Models Inc. Talent Agency online, as they seemed like a good fit for me, and was offered an interview a few weeks later. I went to the interview well prepared with a headshot and resume, and maintained a professional and friendly demeanor throughout the process. I ended up signing with them a month later.

How did it feel to book your first job in the modeling/entertainment industry?

Booking my first industry job was an amazing experience. I got to meet and work with so many great people and it was really exciting to be exposed to the process of filming a commercial.

Success is rarely handed to people and those who are successful got to where they are because they worked hard and overcame their fear of rejection.

Saburi Sai3Any advice for Barbizon students and grads pursuing a career in the modeling and entertainment industry?

My advice to Barbizon students who are pursuing a career in a modeling and entertainment industry is that if you want something, you have to take the initiative to reach your goals. Success is rarely handed to people and those who are successful got to where they are because they worked hard and overcame their fear of rejection.
